Date: 06/02/1997 Entre Nous hopes the post of secretary-general of the EU farm unions body COPA/COGECA is not jinxed. After all the trials and tribulations surrounding recent holders of the job, a willing candidate for the vacancy has finally been found in the shape of 52-year-old Finn Risto Volanen, currently of Finn Coop Pellervo (the Confederation of Finnish Cooperatives). The joint COPA/COGECA praesidium votes on his appointment tomorrow (7 February), but unfortunately the letter sent to all national associations announcing the meeting features the signatures of joint presidents Sir David Naish and Jos Ewert scanned in backwards and the wrong way round.
