Date: 04/01/1996 The Commission's personnel and administration staff are coming to terms with a startling statistic revealed by Professor Alan Watson, a former Commission official who recently addressed 100 A-grades at a DGIX (personnel and administration) seminar. Among the things people like to do while watching television, he pointed out, is to make love. But the conundrum for statistical analysts is that while 11&percent; of men admit to doing it with the box on, only 5&percent; of women say they do. One wag demonstrated a clear case of lateral thinking by commenting: “Perhaps there is some truth in Cresson's assertion that one in four British males are homosexual.” The seminar was about the art of communication, self projection and, of course, the importance of television - quite important apparently to 11&percent; of men and 5&percent; of women. |
