EU breaks BSkyB’s Premiership monopoly

The (UK) Football Premier League ended its battle with the European Commission over the sale of live television rights on 17 November 2005, after the League agreed to ensure that no broadcaster would be able to monopolise the right to show matches after the current arrangement with BSkyB ends in 2007.
