Brussels told to relent on gas emission quota

The European Court of First Instance ruled on 23 November 2005 that the European Commission must consider a request to revise the amount of carbon dioxide that British businesses are allowed to emit. In 2004 the Commission refused to allow the UK to increase its original estimate of the total emission allowance required for UK industry.
