As part of its review of pending laws, the European Commission is to reconsider the draft Directive for Temporary Agency Workers. The move will please business leaders in the UK which employs two-thirds of all EU temps, and where resistance to the draft Directive had been the strongest.

In a speech on 23 September 2005 Günter Verheugen, European Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry, said the Commission had decided to withdraw over a third of the 183 legislative proposals it had reviewed.
