Talks between the EU3 (France, Germany and the United Kingdom) and Iran over the latter's nuclear programme are due to resume in August 2005. In the run-up to the talks, the United States and Iran were reported to be taking up entrenched positions and diplomats are doubtful Iran can be persuaded to give up development of its nuclear fuel cycle in exchange for proposed incentives. |
