War of aircraft titans gives WTO biggest case

The US and the European Union on 31 May 2005 launched the biggest litigation in WTO history, after six months of negotiations. Dispute panels were to sort through US allegations that Airbus benefited from billions of dollars in direct government subsidies. The EU in turn alleges that Boeing, despite its falling market share, enjoyed equally lucrative subsidies.
