Mixed response to Brussels’ sweeping antitrust inquiries

Consumer organisations and some businesses have welcomed the European Commission decision, released on 13 June 2005, to launch sweeping antitrust investigations into the financial services and energy sectors. However, others have argued that the inquiries could turn out to be both expensive and unnecessary.
