Chancellor calls for a new mood of ‘realism’ in policymaking

In his annual Mansion House speech on 22 June 2005, UK Chancellor Gordon Brown gave details of the argument for European economic reform that the UK wants to promote during its six-month Presidency of the European Union, July - December 2005, calling for a new mood of 'pro-European' realism in policymaking.
