Serbian general surrenders to UN tribunal

Nebojsa Pavkovic, the Yugoslav army's former chief of staff indicted by the United Nationals war crimes tribunal in the Hague has surrendered, paving the way for improved relations for Serbia with the United States and European Union. EU officials had made the retired general's surrender a condition for the start of negotiations on a stabilisation and association agreement with Serbia and Montenegro.
