Court ruling sparks Turkey rethink on Öcalan case

In a judgment issued on 12 May 2005, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the trial in 1999 of Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the PKK Kurdish separatist movement in Turkey, was unfair. The Turkish Government has indicated its readiness to retry Mr Öcalan.
