The chief international envoy to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Paddy Ashdown, sacked the ethnic Croat President, Dragan Covic, on 29 March 2005. Mr Covic was due to appear in court on corruption charges on 30 March and had declined requests from American and European diplomats to step down voluntarily.
