The EU and the UN: Implementing effective multilateralism

The reform of the United Nations will be discussed at the 60th UN General Assembly, which will take place from September 2005. On 21 March 2005, the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUIS) therefore organised a seminar in Paris, with the aim of analysing the contribution that the European Union and its member states can make to this reform. The participants included officials, academics and representatives from the UN and EU. Cooperation for peacekeeping purposes and the reinforcement of the UN Security Council were among the main topics of the seminar.
