The European Parliament on 24 February 2005 approved the final text of a new EU law on Unfair Commercial Practices (see: IP/05/213). The Council of Ministers was likely to give its approval to the new law in the weeks following Parliament's approval, and the new rules were expected to be implemented in 2007.
