EU ‘too slow’ on economic reforms

The European Commission issued 27 January 2005 the second report on the implementation of the Broad Economic Policy Guidelines for 2003-2005 setting out the EU's medium term economic policy strategy to make Europe more competitive. This was issued in advance of the publication later in early February 2005 of the Mid-Term Review of the Lisbon Strategy, which was launched in 2000 to make the EU the most competitive world economy by 2010.
