On 18 January 2005 the Airbus A380 superjumbo was officially unveiled in its assembly hangar in Toulouse in the presence of nearly five thousand invited guests from across Europe. Chancellor Gerhard Schroder called the plane, with two full-length decks and room for 840 seats, a triumph of European science and engineering. It is the largest passenger aircraft ever built. |
