US President George W. Bush is expected to set out his vision for EU-US relations in a speech in Brussels on Monday (21 February) at the opening of his European tour.

The president's programme in Brussels includes a special summit meeting of the North Atlantic Council at NATO headquarters and an extraordinary meeting of the European Council of EU heads of state and government.

On Tuesday evening, Bush will visit the headquarters of the European Commission to meet President José Manuel Barroso and the College of commissioners. Commission staff who work in the Berlaymont, apart from those directly involved in the visit, have been given the day off.

Special security measures will be in force around the US embassy and mission to the EU and in the EU quarter around Rond-Point Schuman. l Further details: www.polbru.be
