Recycling levy mooted on electrical purchases

UK electrical goods manufacturers may increase the price of their products to fund the costs of recycling them. The European Union's Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment comes into force in August 2005 and will require manufacturers to find a way of disposing of redundant electrical equipment.
