Socialists urge Barroso to pursue their agenda

José Manuel Barroso, the new European Commission President, was warned on 26 November 2004 by Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, President of the Party of European Socialists, that he must follow their economic agenda if he is to restore any authority to his leadership. Europe's socialist leaders met in Madrid, 26-27 November 2004 to discuss a socialist blueprint for the next five years.
