The Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker, was appointed the first President of the Eurogroup (known informally as 'Mr Euro') at an informal meeting of EU Finance Ministers in Scheveningen on 10 September 2004. Mr Juncker will become the political face of the single currency and will take up his post in January 2005.
