The existing EU programme of action in the field of public health covers the period 2001-2006. To prepare for the period after 2006 the European Commission issued in July 2004 a 'reflection paper' on the future of EU health policy ('Enabling good health for all') and asked for those interested to submit their views. The first results of this consultation were announced in October 2004 (submissions from stakeholder organisations can be seen via the European Commission 'Reflection process on EU health policy' link below. During 2005 the European Commission will publish formal proposals.
