Florian Gerster, head of Germany's BA federal labour agency that manages unemployment benefits and job placements lost his job on 24 January 2004 following repeated allegations of mismanagement. Mr Gerster was central to Germany's employment initiatives but Germany will press on with planned labour market reforms.
