This document, which was launched by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office on 28 October 2004, sets out how the UK proposes to meet the international energy challenge over the next five to ten years. It builds on the Department of Trade and Industry's white paper of February 2003, 'Our energy future: Creating a low carbon economy' (Cm 5761) and on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's white paper of December 2003, 'UK international priorities' (Cm 6052). Although the strategy is written from a British perspective, its success depends on a wide range of partnerships - both with other countries and governments and with all those who have an interest in energy and climate change.
