The European Commission decided on 7 January 2003 to grant additional benefits to Sri Lanka under the European Union's Generalised System of Tariff Preferences (GSP). The Commission has also decided to initiate an investigation into the alleged violation of freedom of association in Belarus as a first step towards the possible temporary withdrawal of GSP to Belarus.
