Commission calls for clearer focus on addressing Roma discrimination in an enlarged EU

Discrimination against the Roma community, which is set to become the EU's largest ethnic minority group from May 1 2004, has to be tackled in a more effective and coordinated manner in both present and future EU Member States, the European Commission said at a conference on Roma and discrimination, Brussels, 22-24 April 2004.
