EU hotel and restaurant sector: Work and employment conditions

This report provides a snapshot of working conditions in the EU hotel and restaurant sector. It highlights the trends and developments shaping the industry and examines the issues of concern for those working in the sector and for policymakers. The report, based on analyses of working conditions and quality of work and employment issues in this sector in the 15 Member States prior to Enlargement in May 2004, assesses the impact of trends such as globalisation, developments in technology and an increasingly demanding consumer base.
