By Karen Carstens Date: 12/02/04 CLAIMS that people may be forced to recycle sex toys under EU electronic recycling rules are a "Euromyth", MEP David Bowe has said. Labour's environment spokesman was responding to a story in a UK tabloid that indicated the adult toys would fall foul of the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment directive (WEEE). "The WEEE directive does not force anybody to recycle any particular device," said Bowe. "My message is that any sex toy owner can relax. The directive will give us all a cleaner and safer environment, but it isn't going to force anyone to reveal their little secrets." Labour MEP David Bowe has dismissed a story in a British tabloid newspaper concerning recycling rules and sex toys as a 'Euromyth'. Mr Bowe said the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) would not force anyone to recycle any particular device. |
