Lack of records hampers Eurostat report

The Financial Times has had sight of a report of an investigation by the European Union's internal audit service into allegations of mismanagement at Eurostat, the EU's statistical arm. The report was commissioned in June 2003 and has found evidence of serious financial irregularities at Eurostat combined with lack of oversight by the European Commission.
