The European Commission issued a Proposal on 23 July 2003 which would reinforce the transparency of planned investments in nuclear installations and, amongst other things, enhance safety and security. Loyola de Palacio, European Commissioner for Energy and Transport, said the Commission's goal was to reinforce procedures so that right from the planning stage, any new investment in nuclear installations complies with safety and security rules. |
