Iraq buoyed by pledges of support

The Russian Government has agreed to reduce the level of Iraq's $8bn debt to Moscow, whilst Italy has promised to consider increasing the number of its troops in the country and has offered to train Iraqi diplomats, magistrates and high-level civilian officials.
