French manufacturing output rose at its fastest rate for nine years, according to the Markit manufacturing purchasing managers’ index for October 2009 published on the 2 November, confirming that France has become the economic powerhouse of continental Europe. Industrial confience in France has also sigificantly risen. However, there are still doubts about whether the recovery will prove sustainable if prolonged labour market weakness weighs on demand. |
