Turkish Cypriot peace bid fails

A proposal by Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash to return to Greek Cypriots the eastern town of Varosha has been rejected by the Cypriot President, Tassos Papadopoulos, who said the UN plan, which includes more complex territorial arrangements, should be the main basis for negotiation.
