A consultation paper seeking views on applying EU electrical waste directives to UK legislation was published by the UK Department of Trade and Industry on 28 March 2003. The EU's directives on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and on the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (ROHS) came into effect in February 2003. They must be law in member states by August 2004. Deadline for responses: 30 May 2003.
