Article reports that the Financial Times newspaper has seen documents which reveal that legislation to control the safety of thousands of chemical substances circulating in the European Union has split the European Commission over how many chemicals should be exempted. Allegedly, the Environment Commissioner Margot Wallström wants procedures to control specific categories of chemicals while the Enterprise Commissioner Erkki Liikanen would like to see more exemptions.
