Greater EU tax harmony and bigger stability pact role urged

The Final report of the Working Group VI on Economic Governance of the Convention on the Future of Europe has concluded that the European Union should have greater tax harmonisation and a stronger role for the Stability and Growth Pact. The working group's findings will be debated in the Convention in November 2002 and are likely to be among the most controversial items the full body has yet discussed.
