In an interview with the Financial Times, Giscard d'Estaing, President of the Convention on the Future of Europe, sets out a vision in which he calls a halt to moves towards a federal European Union. He also suggests renaming the EU to emphasise the common bonds between European citizens. Mr d'Estaing appears to favour 'United Europe'.
