Debate on euro gets a serving of humour

The pro- and anti-single currency campaign in the UK begins in earnest in September 2002 with celebrities lined up to support both camps. The UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and his Chancellor, Gordon Brown, can wait until June 2003 before delivering their verdict on whether the UK should join but campaigners are expecting either an autumn or winter referendum announcement.
