Straw hits at Prodi in attempt to smooth relations between US and its EU allies

Article reports on a speech by the UK Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, at the Brookings Institution, Washington, USA, 8 May 2002. In his speech Mr Straw dismissed comments made in late April 2002 by Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, that the UK's relationship with the United States gets in the way of playing a full part in Europe.
