CAP reform plan boosts move to ‘green’ farming

Many hope that radical proposals by Franz Fischler, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Fisheries, for reform of the Common Agricultural Policy will increase the chances of the UK Treasury funding the key recommendation of the Curry Report on the future of farming - a new environmental scheme open to all farmers. The Curry Report proposes switching subsidies from food production to environmental schemes.
