Employers’ group urged to stay out of push for membership

The Confederation of British Industry is to come under sustained pressure not to campaign for British membership of the euro. The CBI has angered government ministers by refusing to campaign until the government takes a lead. The pro-euro group Britain in Europe is to step up its campaign and raise public familiarity with the euro, ahead of a possible referendum in 2003.
