Germany: Bundesbank Monthly Report: Developments in the external economic relations of the EU accession countries in central and eastern Europe

The European Union's negotiations with the accession countries in central and eastern Europe are now well advanced. It is expected that eight of the ten candidates will join the EU as early as 2004. These countries would then be able to join the Eurosystem two to three years later at the earliest
