Press Release: Statement on Commission’s enlargement stragegy paper and regular reports

The UK Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, issued a statement on 9 October 2002, in which he welcomed the European Commission's proposal that 10 candidate countries should be able to complete negotiations in 2002. This followed publication by the European Commission, on 9 October 2002, of its strategy paper and reports on the progress towards accession by each of the candidate countries.
