Nato must be prepared to play a 'pivotal' role in the war against terror and weapons of mass destruction, NATO Secretary General George Robertson said on 24 September 2002. Defence ministers from the 19 NATO member countries held an informal meeting in Warsaw, Poland, on 24 and 25 September 2002 to discuss key issues on NATO's agenda. The issues included improving NATO's defence capabilities, modernising the Alliance's command structure and examining its operational roles, including in the war against terrorism and in the Balkans. |
