Press Release: Taoiseach calls for real debate on economic implications of Nice

The Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern, speaking on 10 July 2002, strongly condemned attempts to censor contributions to the debate on the Treaty of Nice and expressed his confidence that the Irish people would see the absolute economic necessity of a 'yes' vote by Ireland.
