EU candidate countries endorse European Charter for Small Enterprises

Candidate countries in central and eastern Europe and the Mediterranean have taken an important step towards full participation in Union policy-making by endorsing the European Charter for Small Enterprises. This commits them to implementing the medium-term enterprise strategy agreed at the 2000 Lisbon Summit and represents a move from a transition phase in their economy, to an open, knowledge-based and growth-oriented policy.
