Biofuels

This note describes some of the advantages and disadvantages of biofuels production and use, considers whether biofuels use in unethical and sets out the EU and UK targets and policies on biofuels up to October 2011. It also explains the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation, which supports the use of biofuels in the UK by setting a staggered target for the volume of 'renewable fuels' in transport fuels to reach 5% by the period 2013/14.
