The European Central Bank is to build its permanent headquarters on the site of Frankfurt am Main's wholesale fruit and vegetable market. The design of the new building will be the subject of an international architectural design and urban planning competition to be launched by the ECB in the second half of 2002. Work on the building is expected to start in 2004/2005. |
