Regional and local powers in Europe. Employment, social policy, environment, transport and vocational training

This study gives an overview in concrete terms of current regional and local authority powers in the European Union in those areas where the Committee of the Regions acquired new consultative rights under the Amsterdam Treaty (employment, social policy, the environment, vocational training and transport). In so doing it seeks to contribute - from a regional and local authority angle - to the growing debate on good governance and the role of each player in tomorrow's Europe.
