CONVENTION members were urged this week to treat Europe's youth more seriously.

Kristian Groth, of Denmark-based 4TREND (Trustworthy European Democracy), said the Youth Convention, which is due to meet from 9-14 July, is a step forward but does not go far enough.

'We want to see the Convention take the youth agenda more into consideration than just a five-day gathering of 200 specially elected young people. We want to see more cooperation between the two forums because it is us, the young people, who are going to live in the future of Europe.'

The Youth Convention members, aged 18-25, will be appointed by the main Convention.
