Date: 11/04/02 THREE EU governments have written to Denmark's right-wing government to express 'profound concern' over tough new immigration restrictions. Sweden, Belgium and France were responding to a draft law raising to 24 from 18 the minimum age for bringing a foreign spouse to live in the country, and denying full welfare benefits for the first seven years in Denmark. The UN's refugee agency, the UNHCR, also fears the new rules could increase social hardship and prevent family reunions among refugees and other immigrants. A Danish government spokesman said the concerns were based on 'misunderstandings'.
